Good eats to keep you in that Halloween spirit


 

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups raw whole pumpkin seeds

Preheat oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C). Combine the margarine, salt, garlic salt, Worcestershire sauce and pumpkin seeds. Mix thoroughly and place in shallow baking dish. Bake for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Spiced Apple Cider

1 gal. Apple Cider
20 Allspice Berries
3 Cinnamon Sticks
1 1/2 cups Orange Juice
1/3 cup Lemon Juice
1 cup of Carmel Syrup

Mix all ingredients in large pot, heat to boiling, turn down to simmer for 30 min. or more. Strain (or just scoop out cinnamon & allspice berries) and serve or store in large container in refrigerator for later.

Chex Party Mix

8 TBSP butter or Margarine
3 TBSP Worchestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
3 cups each of Corn, Rice & Wheat Chex
1 large can mixed nuts
3 cups pretzel sticks
1 box garlic flavored Tostettes (gourmet round croutons)

Heat oven to 250 F. In small sauce pan add butter, worchestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, & onion powder, melt & mix on low heat. Mix together cereal, nuts, pretzels, croutons. Place cereal mix in large (deep) roasting pan, slowly & evenly pour liquid seasoning mixture over the cereal. Fold & mix the cereal w/ the seasoning to make sure everything is coated evenly. Place in the oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool.
